Southern Avalon Photography Contest - Winners Announced!

We were thrilled with the level of participation for our first ever Southern Avalon Photography contest. We had over 100 entries in the youth and adult categories, over $1500.00 in prizes up for grabs, this was an exciting contest for all! The online portion was fierce with over 1,200 votes cast. It sure got the word out about how grand this place is!

We'd like to thank our professional photographers who judged the first round of the competition.

They all judged the initial entries and whittled it down to the winner of the youth competition as seen below, as well as the four semi-finalists that advanced to the next round which was done online.

They were:

1) Yvonne O'Leary Brothers "Wharf Sunset"

2) Cynthia Power "Reflections on the Drook"

3) Susan Haskell "Whale Tail St. Vincent's"

4) Images by Dawn "Cape Race Rocks"

The four Youth Entries were:

1) Shane Clarke 2) Kaylee Goodyear 3) Robyn Pennell 4) Landon Pennell

All are from Trepassey.

Shane Clarke of Trepassey was our youth division winner in the contest. Shane won himself a cash prize of $50.00 from ECHO, a candy basket valued at $65, and a one hour mentoring session with Michael Kennedy Photoworks. Thanks to all the kids that entered. We hope you keep shooting for the stars!

Join us in CONGRATULATING Cynthia Power on her win in the Southern Avalon Photography Contest for her photo "Reflections on the Drook". She won over $1,500 in prizes that included:

1) A night at The Stages beachside cabins, Portugal Cove South

2) A night at Edge of the Avalon Inn in an executive suite, Trepassey.

3) Gourmet dinner for 2 at The Keeper's Kitchen, St. Shotts

4) Cards, CD, Book, & Print from Michelle Myrick, Ammo Artworks.

5) A 40 oz of Canadian Whiskey and 4 Craft Beer via Mer et Soleil.

6) Two passes to Mistaken Point for a guided fossil hike, Mistaken Point Ecological Reserve.

7) $150 from the Earhart Cultural Heritage Organization

GRAND PRIZE: A one hour shooting session with Michael Kennedy Photoworks at a location on the Southern Avalon. Go check out his beautiful photos!
